Reception Class


Our Reception class is located in a spacious and airy learning space that has been redeveloped to provide exciting areas to cover all aspects of the curriculum. Pupils have access to a wide range of learning through play and enjoy a mix of child initiated and adult led activities. Pupils have daily phonics sessions and free flow access to a large outdoor area.

There’s no such thing as a Gruffalo.

The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is divided into three prime areas of learning and four specific areas:-

Prime Areas

  • Communication and Language Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development

Specific Areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Here at Manor Hill we use a Creative Curriculum which encompasses all of these areas and aligns with the format used across the school.  Children have the opportunity to follow their own interests and preferred styles of learning whilst engaging with factual ,conceptual and debatable questions centered around an exciting topic.
